Experience

John Jordan, scaffold expert witness, has been active in the scaffold and construction equipment business for over 45 years and has been retained as a scaffold expert witness for over 27 years. As a scaffold expert witness, John has been involved in many high-profile scaffold cases involving severe injuries, multiple deaths, as well as multi-million-dollar property damage. John’s expert witness competence includes OSHA, CalOSHA, New York labor laws, scaffold collapse & misuse, and fall protection in accidents involving stairways and ladders. Mr. Jordan has been designated and qualified as a scaffold expert in 26 states and has testified in numerous state and federal courts.

John’s personal scaffold experience includes scaffold estimating, erection, inspection, maintenance, repair, and dismantlement. Beyond field work, John is also well-versed in scaffold layout, sales, management, and direction of in-house engineers.

Knowledge

John’s hands-on experience makes him stand out as a consulting expert. In his 45 years of experience he has literally performed almost every job in the scaffold and construction equipment industry including, warehouseman, truck driver, scaffold erector, sales, management and president of a multi-location operation. This diverse background in conjunction with his extensive knowledge regarding OSHA, ANSI, and state regulations, enable John to provide and communicate comprehensive reports in layman’s terms.

John held the position of president of Safway Scaffolds Equipment & Supply for more than 20 years. Safway had offices located throughout Central and South Texas and was the leading supplier of all types of scaffolding, shoring, and equipment to the construction and industrial market. John Jordan and Safway provided a full line of scaffolding and shoring services, including engineering and design, sales, leasing, service and scaffold erection. John was also the president of an affiliated company that imported scaffold components for tube and clamp scaffold which were sold to end users and other scaffold entities.

Safway was also a leading supplier of ladders and construction equipment including forklifts, skid steer loaders, aerial work platforms, and a full line of light construction equipment. Safway also provided bleachers, grandstands, and stages for the entertainment industry.

Commitment

The Jordan family introduced the first steel scaffolding in the state of Texas in 1939. John began working in the scaffold industry at the age of 13 and since that time, has had both hands-on experience and formal training in every aspect of the scaffold industry.

John has been an active member of the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) for over 35 years. The SAIA is the premier organization of scaffold suppliers, users and manufacturers in the United States and Canada formed to promote safety in the scaffold and access industry. John has served as both SAIA Director, and as co-chairman of the Supported Scaffold & Technical Committee covering numerous technical aspects of supported scaffold and detailed and extensive coverage of the OSHA & ANSI standards.

Mr. Jordan’s interest in safety for his employees and customers led him to be heavily involved in the content and development of the SAIA Scaffold Safety Training Program serving on both the Steering and Advisory Committees charged with the development of the Scaffold Training Program developed jointly by the SAIA and the Alberta Institute of Technology.

John served as the 1st President of the SAIA Training Program which now provides comprehensive scaffold and safety training throughout the United States and Canada.
